Roanoke Kitchen

The clients of this contemporary kitchen were looking for a modern interpretation of an old school kitchen that was bright, colorful and fun.

The new kitchen should be the hub of the household a place to get some serious cooking done and be in keeping with the four previous remodel projects we had done over the years.

The space is dominated by the large commercial range, range hood and massive bamboo butcher block island. Floor to ceiling glass subway wall tile surrounds the room providing a green backdrop and great wall protection.

In the afternoon the glass tile glows with the sunset. Cabinetry is unabashedly modern. Window, door and ceiling trims are traditional matching the rest of the circa 1905 house as does the oak flooring.

The classic mid-century Louis Poulsen PH5 light fixtures are used to provide maximum light with minimal glare and a little flare.
